The surge in the tsunami that struck Japan this past weekend has inundated areas of the Philippines with seawater and washed away homes.

The massive waves, measuring 1,000 feet high, have been moving at nearly 30 mph and have knocked out power in areas where they’ve hit.

The surge is expected to continue for weeks as the waters recede, according to the US Geological Survey.

How to tell if a tsunami has been triggered by a red tsunami

August 11, 2021 Comments Off on How to tell if a tsunami has been triggered by a red tsunami By admin

Red tsunamis are a dangerous phenomenon.

They’re caused by the breakdown of the oceanic crust and can cause massive earthquakes and even a tsunami.

In this article, we’ll look at how to spot a red tide in action.

The Red Tsunami Warning Centre (RTWC) warns of a tsunami if the wind is in the region of 14 knots (25 mph) or above and there’s no wind.

You’ll need a high tide for this warning.

What’s the best time to be on the look-out for a red wave?

If the wind speeds are below 14 knots you may not be able to spot red tides, according to RTWC.

If the weather is bad you might be able see them, but that depends on the wind speed.

What if the wave is just above the crest of a wave?

This is also a red warning, but if the tide is just below the crest, you may be able catch a glimpse of the wave.

This is because the wave will be travelling at a much higher speed than the wind.

What are the signs of a red surf?

Red surf is when waves are up to 20 metres (66ft) high and can be as big as 30 metres (98ft) across.

Red surf usually occurs in the south-east of the UK, with waves travelling towards the north of the country.

These waves are usually the result of a large fault line breaking off the surface of the Earth, causing a tsunami, and the fault line is usually very shallow.

The most likely cause is a fault which is already fractured in the crust and may have caused a fault in the Earth’s interior, RTWC warns.

What can you do to prevent a red swell?

Keep your windows and doors shut, stay calm and keep your eye on the surf.

A tsunami may appear on the horizon, but the waves may not travel far enough inland to reach your house.

Keep an eye out for signs of damage in your home.

If you see red waves, you can get a better look at them by turning your phone and looking at the screen with your head or by looking through a binocular.

When in doubt, call your local coastguard.
